Wood Species
Big Leaf Maple. Of the Maples, it is the largest, growing only on the west coast of the United States.
Steel Base
The base was custom made by a local welder and finished with a satin lacquer. The legs rest on hand carved blocks of Black Walnut.
Finish
There is no stain on this table. The grain speaks for itself. To protect it, the piece is finished with a water based satin lacquer.
Epoxy
Is there epoxy in this? Yes. We used a high quality two part epoxy to stabilize the cracks and inclusions in this piece. To keep it subtle, we added a dark pigment.
Burl
What is a burl? When a tree develops an infection, it grows extra cells around the infected area. You have probably seen trees with large masses growing off the side of the trunk. That is a burl.

Behind the piece
The Story
The top came from a simple goal: find a burl with enough natural figure and character to carry a waterfall on its own, letting the wood do all the talking.
Then came the feet. Carving the blocks that anchor the base, the shapes started taking on a life of their own. My first thought was the terror dogs from Ghostbusters, but the more they came together, the more they reminded me of Rocky from Project Hail Mary. So I leaned into it. What started as function became one of my favorite details on the whole piece.

Big figure, small footprint. At 30 inches long, 40 inches wide, and just 17.5 inches tall, this table holds its own in a room without ever taking it over.

Every piece ships via freight, built on a custom pallet made specifically for that piece. This ensures it arrives the same way it left the shop, protected from the road, not just boxed and hoped for.
Freight shipping is quoted separately based on size, weight, and destination, and is not included in the piece price.
For care, we recommend wiping down with a soft, dry cloth and avoiding direct sunlight or heat sources that can affect the finish over time.
